How Do You Do?

After careful consideration we at http://www.proficiosoftware.com have choosen to develop our software in the D programming language and we are using DWT/Tango as our windowing toolkit and sqlite as our database backend. You may wonder why we didn't choose .NET like everyone else today. Here are our reasons:

Language power
D is very efficient and fast. The expressiveness of the language is very much like C# but it has the power of C/C++ but without the complexity of C++.

Class libraries

It didn't take long. My site has fallen pray to the automated blog comment spammers. Luckily I didn't have to delete too many comments manually.

To prevent spam I've installed reCAPTCHA to prevent spam bots.

When I switch monitors at home and at work some windows are hidden and I can't move them. How can I move the back?

The problem scenario is really this:

At work I shutdown my computer, disconnect the external monitor and at home I reconnect. Because I often forgot to move windows back to the main screen, some applications end up off screen on the other monitor(the work monitor)

Buying land as a foreigner in someone else's name in a country where foreigners can't own land, is risky to say the least. Yet I bought land on a friends name.

When you talk to other foreigners living here, they all seem to have their own horror story of how a friend of theirs lost their land when the relationship between the "friend" and them went sour.

Despite the negative stories, I trusted my friend and bought a plot where I lived for three years until he died.

Everything seems to be web based today; it's all the craze. There may be many advantages but I don't want to install a web server on my machine just to do some simple work like keeping track of bugs. PR Tracker is a good Free Bug Tracking Software alternative and one of the only free solutions out there that doesn't require a web server that I could find.

November 4th 2008 the American people will choose a new president. The president of the United States of America is the most powerful person in the world. We would like to know who would be the next president of the United States of America - if the world could vote! In the presidential election in 2004 122,267,553 people voted. 6,500,000,000 people did not. Our mission is to get more people to vote than voted in the last election.

Last Sunday my best friend passed away. He died of heart failure. I have no words to describe how said I am. He is truly a great loss to me, to his family and to the world.

He has written compassion and understanding in my heart. He has carved love and altruism in my soul. He was one in a million and he choose to be friends with me. I will forever be indebted to him for he helped me with almost anything in Vietnam.

I'm a software developer by profession and I'm passionate about it too. Like many of my kind I prefer Linux/Unix over Windows as my preferred environment to work in, just because it's better suited for software developers. The environment is highly configurable, scriptable and the source code is available. I actually prefer a Mac to Linux and Windows, because an Apple provides the best of both worlds, it also combines the worst of both :)

I always thought it funny how many Americans(republicans especially) don't want their government to tell them what to do, but they don't seem to care when corporations tell them what to do in the form of advertising.

The current trend in meetings seems to be that a bringing your laptop to the meeting is an absolute must. There is some sort of unspoken peer pressure of being modern, of having the latest tools available to make the meeting more effective. The reasoning must be something like this: The laptop has wireless so I can access all data I need during the meeting without having to prepare.
